Gandhian Parikramas for Peace

Parikrama is a Sanskrit word, which means journey on foot but in order to reach larger section of society, we travel on local buses and took general coach in Train. The purpose behind initiating Gandhians Parikrama around country is to spread the message of peace, communal harmony and national integration by creating awareness against social evils among general public. So far Gandhian Parikrama is conducted in four phases. Its first phase was flagged off on 17th Oct 2010, GGF delegation travelled from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and completed the journey in 110 days where they stayed from remotest village (like Uri in Kashmir) to metropolitan cities (Chennai in Tamil Nadu) where they interacted with diverse communities. Its phase two was focused from Eastern coast to North East part of India. It covered Andhra Pradesh (including Telangana), Oddisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. Phase three was mostly focused on Andaman and Nicobar and Pondicherry while phase four concentrated on Western coast of India including Goa, Diu-Daman, Gujarat, Dadra-Nagar Haveli, Kerala and Lakshadweep Islands.

Gandhian Parikramas for Peace

After completing entire India, GGF is heading for Global Parikrama. Our top most priority is to strengthen relations between India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, which were once part of United India. Mahatma Gandhi fought peacefully for Undivided India and gained freedom from alien rule. It becomes moral responsibility of these three countries to step forward in promoting peace in the region. They also need to include South Africa from where Mahatma Gandhi initiated his journey of Sathyagraha (Fast for Truth).United States and United Kingdom need to take facilitating role in initiating peace dialogue between these nations first and then eventually lead to South Asia, Middle East, Central Asia, 39 degree parallel, EuroAsia, African countries and other conflicting zones. Padmashri S P Varma in GGF Peace Summit 2014, Washington DC coined the term “BIPS-AB” which required a close knit understanding between Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and South Africa along with America and Britain.
